Stupid Never Dies on Steam Deck: Performance Expectations

At a glance

Steam Deck can run the game, with full-game reports around 30 FPS. Reports also describe softer image quality, uneven smoothness and noticeable latency. Treat 30 FPS as an expectation from reports, not a guaranteed lock or a tuned settings profile.

Can Steam Deck run it?

Yes: full-game review reports include native Steam Deck play. One describes approximately 30 FPS; another finds the game playable but less smooth, blurrier and noticeably delayed. An OLED player also reports playing successfully without supplying a performance breakdown.

The Verified compatibility entry is mirrored by SteamDB, with an August 27 test and proton-stable listed. That compatibility result addresses operation and default input/display criteria; it does not mean every release build is locked to 30, 40 or 60 FPS.

Where to start with settings

Use the game’s default controller and graphics configuration as a starting point, then judge the version running on your own Deck. This is a starting point based on the compatibility record, not a benchmarked best-settings recipe.

Do not assume a forced Proton version, fixed power limit or a 40/60 FPS target is required. A reproducible full-game profile needs the Deck model, SteamOS and Proton version, resolution, graphics settings, power limit and results from more than one scene. Those details are not supplied by the reports above.

Judge more than the FPS counter

Check readability at the mall, frame pacing in a busy fight and input response during a boss. A brief 30 FPS sample in a demo does not show sustained full-game performance. If using an external controller, the compatibility note says you may need to adjust controller priority in Quick Access.
